Barcelona, the city of gold

Old meets new

About Casa Mila

Casa Milà

Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera, is one of the most famous works of Antoni Gaudí and a masterpiece of Catalan Modernism. Completed in 1912, the building is known for its flowing stone façade, which resembles waves shaped by the sea. Unlike traditional architecture, Casa Milà has almost no straight lines, reflecting Gaudí’s inspiration from nature. Its most remarkable feature is the rooftop, where sculptural chimneys and ventilation towers create a surreal landscape unlike anything else in Barcelona. Today, visitors can explore its elegant interiors, exhibitions, and rooftop views over the city.

The life work of Gaudi

Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Família is Barcelona’s most iconic landmark and one of the most extraordinary architectural achievements in the world. Designed by the renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, construction began in 1882 and continues today, making it a living masterpiece that has evolved across generations. Gaudí dedicated much of his life to the basilica, combining religious symbolism with forms inspired by nature. Its soaring towers, intricate façades, and remarkable attention to detail make it unlike any other church ever built.

The exterior tells biblical stories through thousands of sculptures and decorative elements, while the interior creates an almost magical atmosphere. Massive columns rise like trees in a forest, supporting a ceiling that seems to float high above visitors. Sunlight streams through colorful stained-glass windows, filling the space with vibrant shades of blue, green, red, and gold that shift throughout the day.

Beyond its beauty, the Sagrada Família represents Barcelona’s creativity, ambition, and cultural identity.

TOP OF THE HILL

Montjuïc

Montjuïc is a scenic hill overlooking Barcelona, offering sweeping views of the city, harbor, and Mediterranean Sea. It is a place where history, nature, and culture come together. At the summit stands Montjuïc Castle, a historic fortress that once defended the city. The area is also home to beautiful gardens, museums, and Olympic sites from the 1992 Games. Visitors can ride the cable car up the hillside for panoramic vistas that grow more breathtaking at every turn. As the sun sets, Montjuïc becomes especially magical, with the city lights slowly glowing below like a living map.

SHOP TILL YOU DROP

La Rambla

La Rambla is Barcelona’s most famous boulevard, stretching from Plaça de Catalunya to the waterfront. Filled with street performers, cafés, flower stalls, and lively crowds, it captures the energetic spirit of the city. Walking here is an experience in itself, with music, art, and hidden side streets leading into the historic Gothic Quarter. One of its highlights is Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, a vibrant market known for fresh tapas, seafood, and colorful fruit juices. Day or night, La Rambla remains one of the most atmospheric and unforgettable places to explore in Barcelona.

ANCIENT ROMAN MYSTERY

Barri Gòtic

Barri Gòtic is the historic heart of Barcelona and one of the city’s most atmospheric neighborhoods. Its narrow cobbled streets, hidden squares, and centuries-old buildings create a setting that feels unchanged by time. The district was built upon the remains of the ancient Roman city, and traces of Barcelona’s past can still be found throughout its winding alleys. At its center stands the impressive Barcelona Cathedral, a magnificent example of Gothic architecture. Beyond its historic landmarks, Barri Gòtic is filled with charming cafés, boutique shops, and lively plazas where locals and visitors gather. Exploring the neighborhood on foot is the best way to discover its unique character and experience the rich history and culture that define old Barcelona.
